About
David Keough
What a difference a year can make, especially when it is uncertain as to
how many more you have left to live. None of us really know the answer
to this question but in April 2009, for David Keough it became one day
at a time, after he was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer. On June
12, Dave will begin an adventure that he hopes will bring inspiration
and hope to anyone with a friend, loved one, or is personally dealing
with cancer. As part of a team, Dave will cycle across the U.S., in the
Race
Across America (RAAM) — The World's Toughest Bicycle Race!
Dave wishes to share his experience with the hope that it might bring
awareness to others battling cancer.
Cancer can take many forms and can affect anyone at anytime, and has
many stigmas. As an avid athlete, Dave has participated in endurance
sports for 25 years and lung cancer was not a card he expected to draw.
At 54, with hundreds of running, cycling, and swimming events behind
him, the biggest and most difficult race of his life has begun. After a
year of intense chemotherapy and radiation therapy, the experience has
left him physically scarred but spiritually stronger. Now, Dave will
attempt the hardest ultra cycling race on the planet with his one lung
and during chemotherapy treatment. From this site, Dave will report from
the road while raising funds for
The
Wellness Community in Phoenix, Arizona.
We encourage you to follow the Dave and his team's progress while they
ride across America from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland.
